Stop Talking

20" x 30"
oil on linen canvas
During my staycation, I took the time to finish this painting of Sera Song. I used a mixture of cold wax medium and Gamblin galkyd in my background paint.

I took a little "Staycation" this past week in order to work on my art. This is a combination of woods:
Pine for the figure, Oak branch and Cedar for the frame. I've been considering starting a series of this motif.

The Wait

Well, I built and shellacked the pedestal last week and here she stands! I'm really looking forward to setting up my new bandsaw next week and start on a new laminated piece. In the meanwhile, I have a couple of pieces to finish and post soon. I love gettin' dirty!

Wait

Here is a figure I've been carving for a few weeks of laminated cedar from my old fence. The head is a solid piece of cedar. It stands about 3 feet high and will be mounted on a pedestal soon.

Here's what I have on my studio easel. It's 20" x 32".

I painted out on Sunday near my house. This is just off the road in Becks Preserve, where I've painted a number of times. I need to remind myself to pack in bug repellent. The gnats were nasty, but at least there weren't mosquitoes! I was really drawn to the abstract shapes and how this guided the eye around and through the painting.
